Lydia Turner, Partner, Creative Director

Demographics

Age 30, Female, from Kensington, Maryland, United States, now lives in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY. Formal education is undergraduate degree, primary design education is school (School of the Visual Arts).

What’s been the biggest influence on your design career?

My portfolio teacher at SVA was James Victore. I learned from him to balance the delicate with the bold, follow my instincts, fuck the haters, and "turn it up to eleven." My first boss, Richard Pandiscio, taught me to speak about my work with conviction. A lot of the time when I get stuck on a project I just try to think "what would Tibor Kalman do?" That helps me tap into the wild ideas that were lurking inside me the whole time.
